Alberta GM Dealership First in Canada to choose 100 per cent Green Electricity
#

June 17, 2009

Calgary, May 22, 2009 — Ron Hodgson Pontiac Buick GMC, an automotive dealership in St. Albert, Alberta, has become the first automotive dealership to sign on with Bullfrog Power, Canada’s 100 per cent green electricity provider.

By bullfrogpowering its dealership, Ron Hodgson will reduce its carbon emissions footprint by 443 tonnes this year. The green electricity initiative is part of the dealership’s comprehensive greening program, which aims to reduce its total carbon emissions by 700 tonnes. In Alberta, Bullfrog’s power comes exclusively from wind facilities located near Pincher Creek that have been certified by Environment Canada under its EcoLogoM program, instead of from carbon-intensive sources like coal and natural gas or from higher impact hydro facilities.

Ron Hodgson now joins the thousands of Canadian homes, businesses and organizations that are reducing their environmental impact and helping to advance the development of new renewable electricity in Canada by choosing to become bullfrogpowered™.

“The purchase of clean electricity from Bullfrog Power gives us our single biggest emissions reduction,” says Jeff Hodgson, General Manager of Ron Hodgson Pontiac Buick GMC. “We’ve always been a very community-minded dealership, and we’ve come to realize that operating in an environmentally responsible manner is an extension of our brand. Choosing the highest quality electricity from Bullfrog Power is a simple and effective way to help clean up air quality and grow the green power market here in Alberta.”

“We are glad to say that Bullfrog Power enabled Ron Hodgson Pontiac to achieve a large percentage of its very ambitious environmental goals in one simple step,” says Theresa Howland, Vice President, Western Region, Bullfrog Power. “It has set a standard that we hope many others in Alberta’s auto industry will follow.”
