When Matthew Von Teichman’s wife brought home an organic pizza eight years ago as part of their plan to adopt a healthier diet for their unborn child, the two were underwhelmed by the taste. In fact, it was awful.

But rather than give up on their resolution, Mr. Von Teichman– an entrepreneur, who had in the past started a restaurant, student window-cleaning business and job-advertising Web site — saw an opportunity in the market. Consumers, particularly those with young families, needed a tasty and convenient range of organic food.

Today, Mr. Von Teichman’s organic food company, Life Choices Natural Foods, distributes its expanding product line throughout Canada and the United States. The company, whose first product was unsurprisingly pizza, now offers nine certified organic product lines, including breaded chicken, macaroni and cheese and their latest, home-style multigrain perogies.
