Atlantic Eco-Expo announces partnership with One Million Acts of Green

October 5, 2009

It’s no secret that people are thinking green. The recent success of the One Million Acts of Green Challenge demonstrates that people are also committed to acting green. In fact, One Million Acts of Green has been one of the most popular and enthusiastic ecological movements to date in Canada. In 100 days, the program recorded over 1,700,000 acts of green, which in turn, eliminated almost 106,000,000 kilograms of waste. Since the movement has spread to a global scale, greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced by 490,916,644 pounds. Countries all over the world are participating, and now the challenge is coming to Nova Scotia.

The Atlantic Eco-Expo, a sustainability trade show planned for November 21 & 22 at Exhibition Park in Halifax, is proud to announce a partnership with One Million Acts of Green. On Saturday, November 21, participants at the Atlantic Eco-Expo will be given the chance to win 50,000 Aeroplan points! To be eligible, participants need to follow these simple registration steps: Go to www.atlanticecoexpo.com and follow the links to register at GreenNexxus.

Participants must commit to perform five acts of green, and encourage five friends to join the challenge. Qualifying acts of green and their level of environmental impact can be found on the One Million Acts of Green website. The acts of green range from simple acts, such as recycling at home, to those requiring more commitment, such as installing a geothermal heating system.

The Atlantic Eco-Expo hopes that this contest will raise awareness of green initiatives and highlight the fact that even small changes can help make a difference when individuals work together. Through this partnership, the organizers of the Atlantic Eco-Expo hope to make the Atlantic Region a cleaner and more sustainable place to live.
